Here's my process for making the Gargomon 3D print... First, I designed and built the full model in ZBrush. Then I sliced and keyed it all up into smaller parts, trying my best to hide the seam lines along natural edges. Then the stl files were taken into PrusaSli3r, where they were resized and output into g-code. The pieces were all printed on my Prusa MK3 printer, using Prusament PLA filament. Once they were all printed, I sanded down any rough edges, and tried to smooth out the majority of the layer lines using sandpaper, emory boards, and needle files. Next I used a 2-part epoxy to glue everything together - using an abundance of rubber bands to hold everything in place. Lastly, some more rounds of sanding, alternated with spray paint. I actually ran out of the grey I normally use, so I dug into some old colors to use as filler layers...but the top coat will still be grey! :)
